I still have it!

I cannot stop smiling today. I watch my grandchildren, 2 and 3 years old, a couple of days a week. They keep me young jumping in puddles and every project takes much longer than it should. But I love every minute of it.

They recently reminded me of what kids can and do say. I make an herbal healing salve that my family considers ‘a medical miracle in a jar’. My niece calls it the green stuff, my kids call it the salve or the stuff- you get the idea. Well, my 2 year old granddaughter is a rough and tumble kind of kid and nothing stops her. She scratched herself the other day and a tiny bead of blood came through. She looks at me and says “fix it please”. I clean it off, kiss it, and think she is going to be on her way. But, she stands firm and asked me again to fix it with some other garbled words that seemed to get twisted on her tongue. I told her I did fix it. She repeated it multiple times because I couldn’t understand what she was saying at first, “use the under half”. I had no idea what she was referring to. I asked her to show me and she pulled me over the medicine cabinet and had me take out my herbal salve, the wonder salve not the “under half”. It’s not fixed or better until it has grandma’s salve on it.

I guess I still have the miracle worker mother in me. It’s a great feeling.
